Feeling Knotty

I recently purchased a little black dress by NBD from an online clothing boutique called Revolve. It is the “Tie Me Down” dress. The dress is perfect because it is sexy and cute at the same time and has little tie details.

I had dinner plans to go to a hip sushi restaurant here in LA called Katsuya, so I decided to debut my new LBD. I had also been coveting the topknot hairstyle all the celebs have been wearing, so I decided to take a stab at doing it myself. For all of you that know me, you know I have fabulous hairstylist friends that work on celebrity’s manes, so I normally defer to them to style my hair in any trendy styles, but this time, I did it myself. I will do a post on tricks of the trade later with their expertise.

Back to the dress…

The fabric is the perfect weight, not too thick, not to thin, and there is a lining, so no need to worry about any visible panty lines or VPL. The tie details are so sweet and the cutouts provide just enough skin exposure to flaunt your stuff, but not in a vulgar way. The tie detail at the back and lower scoop back are perfect for when you need to hit the ladies room and your man watches you walk away. There is also a slit at the front left of the dress, but the mid calf length keeps it from being over exposed. I felt flirty and fun in this dress and the best part is it was on sale!

You can purchase it at for $63! It is by NBD ūüôā

The Need For Tweed

Tweed is a classic fabric that exudes class and refinement. Coco Chanel comes to mind when I see tweed. The knobby material intricately woven in jackets, skirts, and shorts matched with pearls is the definition of a classy outfit.

Tweed is a rough, unfinished woollen fabric of a soft, open, flexible texture.  It is made in either plain or twill weave and may have a check or herringbone pattern. The multi color effects are obtained by twisting together differently coloured woollen strands into a two- or three-ply yarn.

I wear my tweed jackets with denim and skirts and love a tweed short with tights and a blouse. I often toss on a strand of pearls to perfectly compliment the look or edge it up a bit with an ear jacket and stacked bracelets. Which ever combination you choose, a tweed item is sure to fancify any outfit you choose.
