Makeup Crush Monday

I know MCM stands for Man Crush Monday, but I couldn’t resist a post about makeup today. I came across this photo by Jamie Nelson, with makeup by Lottie Stannard and nails by Julie K and I was instantly smitten.

I love everything about the image, how edgy and raw the makeup is, all while still exuding fashion forward thinking. The pop of neon colors against the “dirty” looking face and hands is just so inventive and eye catching. The nails are so delicately splattered with color and the lips so vibrant. This is art to me. I had to share this image with all of you and hope it brightens your day as it did mine. So here is to my Makeup Crush Monday and enjoy! image

Going Incognito

I am always on the hunt for the perfect shade of nail polish for everyday. The answer to my neutral nail dreams is Dior nail lacquer in Incognito.

Dior Vernis gel shine and nail lacquer in this shade is the perfect fit for a lovely daily color. It is a pale, nudey pink that gives your nails just enough of a hint of color to compliment any outfit. This polish is super glossy and wears really well for a week! It only slightly chips on the tips, which is a huge feat in my book because my nail polish always chips easily.

Dior Vernis nail polish sets itself apart from other brands because it is sold as a “gel-coat” which has a special techno-polymer on the formula that keeps the polish intensly shiny. It is also is composed of organic silicon, which enhances the long wear ability of the polish. The brush is longer, with a rounded tip for flawless, easy application. The color is so rich, that it easily covers the nail with two coats. You can feel good about using this polish because Dior Vernis is formulated without toluene, formaldehyde, phthalates or camphor.

I am in love with this color and have adopted it as my new staple.

The polish retails for $25 and can be purchased at and

Essie Neon Collection

My sister, Megan, was searching high and low for the shade of nail polish Nicola Peltz wore in the latest Transformers movie, “Transformers: Age of Extinction.” I was lucky enough get my hands on the new Essie Neon Collection and “I’m Addicted” is the color she was looking for.

The collection has six colors that pack a punch and are listed below.

Too Taboo- a florescent fuchsia berry

Chills And Thrills- a supercharged blue violet

I’m Addicted- a neon aquamarine blue

Vices Versa- a juicy neon lime

Serial Shopper- a florescent fire coral

Sittin’ Pretty- a vivid intense lavender

As a child of the 80’s, these colors remind me of hot loops, friendship bracelets, hyper-color shirts, oversized bright bangles, and the roller skating rink. Make no mistake, these polishes are a fresh twist on a nostalgic trend and are sure to keep a smile on your face all day.
