Satisfying Little Snack

I love chips!! There, I said it. My name is Trisha, I live in Los Angeles and I eat carbs. Lol.

Many of my friends here in LA eat clean and I love them for it and sometimes wish I could be more like them. I on the other hand, eat plenty of things that usually garner a bit of teasing when I eat them. One example is sometimes I eat ice cream for dinner or I run to the store and get a small bag of Doritos as a snack. Well, I am always on the hunt for better options of the foods I love and I have found it in Late July Nacho Chipotle chips.

The flavor is all natural and the chips are gluten and GMO free. They are also lacto vegetarian and Kosher. I am always skeptical to try these alternate versions of my guilty pleasure, go-to favorites, but in this case, I was pleasantly surprised. The Nacho Chipotle flavor is super good and just a touch spicy. I am not one for spicy foods, so I am telling you, it is just the slightest spicy kick at the end of each bite that keeps this chip interesting. The flavor combo will definitely snap you out of your boring work day and put a little pep in your step.

The Late July brand is so great that they donate 10% of their profits to causes that benefit children and the planet. So take that all you LA carb haters! I am actually doing good for humanity while snacking on my chips.

I purchased mine at Pavillions for $3.79.

Banana Creme Protein Dream

My dear friend Jen had jaw surgery recently and her mouth is currently wired shut. I wanted to support her in her recovery, so I put together a care package for her with particle free beverages that were in appealing flavors for her to try.

I was at Whole Foods and didn’t know which protein shakes I wanted to purchase, so I started with the flavors that sounded the most delicious and of foods my friend may miss eating. Well, Jen is from the South and loves Southern Banana Pudding, and actually makes a wonderful one herself! So when I saw there was a banana creme flavored protein shake I knew that was the one I wanted to get her.

The brand is Svelte and it is an organic, plant based protein shake. This appealed to me because often times pre made protein shakes can taste a little like chemicals or really fake flavor wise. I picked up one for myself too because I am always on the hunt for a great snack or breakfast on the go. This shake is gluten-free and packed with 11 grams of protein and 20 percent of your daily recommended fiber and only 180 calories!

I chilled mine in the fridge because I prefer my shakes cold. I tried it today and OH-MY-GOODNESS (and I do mean goodness) this shake  is amazing. The banana flavor is mild and oh so very creamy. The shake is the perfect consistency and really was so satisfying. I felt like I was indulging in a healthy version of Southern Banana Pudding! I am obsessed and know Jen will be too. It is so gratifying to finally find a pre made shake that honestly tastes like the description!

I purchased mine at Whole Foods for $2.79 per shake, but they do come in 4 packs which will save a bit of money. They come in other flavors, Chocolate, French Vanilla, Cappuccino, and Spiced Chai.

Vegan Banana Chocolate Chip Nibbles

A friend of mine posted a picture of these little vegan gems she was making for her daughter’s school. She eats really clean and has a fabulous yoga body so I decided to whip them up and see if I liked them.

As you all know, I love to bake and prefer to use full fat, from scratch recipes, but every so often I come across a great healthy alternative. This is exactly that kind of healthy treat that is tasty and totally guilt free. The recipe only has four ingredients and I super easy to make. You will need two ripe bananas, dash of cinnamon, 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips, 1 1/4 cup oats (I used gluten free).

Mash the bananas in a bowl until they are completely blended. Add the oats, cinnamon, and chocolate chips until mixed well. Take a small ice cream scoop or two spoons and scoop out the batter onto a greased cookie sheet. I used coconut oil spray to grease it. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 mins and allow to completely cool. They are sweet and slightly crunchy on top. Perfect for a snack or even breakfast. The recipe makes 12 bite size morsels, so if you need more feel free to double the recipe.

Koffi

I just got back from visiting my friend Randi in Palm Springs. It was such a relaxing, nice, much needed catch up session in the desert. The vibe in Palm Springs is so laid back and the weather has started to cool down, so it was lovely.

Randi introduced me to the Non Fat Sugar Free Vanilla Latte at Koffi. It was simply divine and such a great way to start the morning. Koffi is a locally owned coffee house in Palm Springs. They roast their own coffee beans and have cute cafes in town. Koffi roasts their coffee in small batches to ensure maximum freshness using infared technology. The pastries are baked fresh daily and they even offer gluten free and sugar free varieties.

Koffi offers many different coffee drinks to kick start your morning or pick up your afternoon. They even have a Malted Mocha Frozen blended drink that I will be trying next time. Whether you choose a hot or cold caffeinated beverage, you are sure to be pleased.

Check out their website for locations and more information  www.kofficoffee.com
