Rene Caovilla

I have become a full on stalker of Rene Caovilla shoes. I was at Saks Fifth Avenue in Beverly Hills the other day and I was consumed by the most beautiful shoes.

You all know how much I love anything that sparkles, so naturally these shoes are for me.

I am attending a dear friend’s wedding at the end of June and am deciding between a glitzy dress with plain shoes or a classic dress with stunning shoes. These gorgeous black satin shoes that are fully encrusted with the most sparkly stones have made it to the top of my wish list. The only problem is they are $1695! Thus, why I have become their stalker. The minute these beauties go on sale, they will be on my feet and I will never take them off. A Cinderella moment of sorts, but no prince or step sisters.

I have noticed many brands doing embellished shoes, but Rene Caovilla exudes elegance. Some of the other brands, though still pricey, radiate more of a bedazzled at home with a glue gun look. While I do appreciate a good craft project, I will leave it up to the pros when it comes for fancy footwear.

These shoes should be the standout part of the outfit and not compete with any other accessory. Keep the dress simple and you will for sure be on the best dressed list.

Vintage Levi’s and Vogue

Tonight I attended the Levi’s x Vogue event at the Levi’s Showroom in LA. Levi’s was showcasing their special limited edition Vintage 501CT jeans.

Upon arrival, there were stylists at the ready to help fit you with the perfect broken in pair of denim. These are cool kid jeans for sure and definitely got me out of my comfort zone. The pair the stylist helped me choose are worn in and a looser, boyfriend style. I don’t own any loose jeans, but my friends always look so cute in them and let me tell you, they are beyond comfortable. I envision wearing them with a white t-shirt, a fun high heel, and maybe a leather jacket or cozy sweater. They would also look amazing paired with converse for a more casual look.

A cool flower company, Bloom That, based in San Francisco presented everyone with burlap covered colorful arrangements tied with a fun bow to take home. The blooms were such a sweet touch at the end of the night. Pretty little things and edgy fashion items are always a good mix.

What a Steal for the Perfect Floral Heel

I have been wanting a pair of floral heels to get me in the mood for spring. I stalked the internet and found the perfect pair at Nordstrom by Halogen.

The heels have a beautiful multi color floral pattern, black base, and heel. They have lots of padding in the foot bed and look more expensive than they are. I love how my pair has symmetrical large white roses at the front of the toe and the height is perfect at 4 1/4″ and goes well with both jeans and skirts. I love using a print as a focal point of an outfit and this floral motif is the perfect way to do that. There are many pairs by designer brands that are stunning, but these pointy toe pumps are a steal at ¬†$89.95. I see myself wearing these beauties to lunch with the girls or on a lovely Valentine’s Day date.

They are classy, beautiful, and comfortable and can be purchased at http://www.nordstrom.com

Hot Hair and Makeup in Harper’s Bazaar Singapore

The February issue of Harper’s Bazaar Singapore literally stopped me in my tracks. Model Heather Marks graces the cover in a pretty pink leather dress holding a cat with the caption “What’s new pussycat?”

The flirty throwback tone of the cover made me want to look inside and see more of the hair and makeup paired with other amazing outfits. The makeup was done by makeup master, Allan Avendano, who also does Sarah Hyland. The black cat eye was perfection with the retro-modern look that famed hairstylist, Peter Savic, who does Sharon Stone’s hair, created. The sleek part in the front was the perfect pairing for the teased hair at the crown and the incredible effortless texture he created. I literally have been lusting after this look since I laid eyes on it and can’t wait to recreate it. Ok….I am going to cheat and call one of my celebrity hairstylist friends to create the look for me. Lucky me, and I am so excited.¬†Photographer Yu Tsai captured these beautiful images and I keep looking at them over and over again. I have included the images below so you can fall in love with them too.

The Devil Wears Prada…Her Assistant Wears Thigh High Chanel

We all remember the moment when Andy gets her much needed makeover in The Devil Wears Prada movie. Anne Hathaway’s character Andy starts out as a frumpy journalist wearing three seasons old cerulean blue sweaters and, GASP, clogs. As the movie progresses and she has her light blub moment, or as Oprah would say, her Ah Hah, moment, she makes a visit to the coveted closet of Runway Magazine.

The closet is every girls dream filled with designer clothing, shoes, handbags, jewels and makeup. She is handed countless items without a bat of an eye, thousands of dollars and hopes and dreams of women everywhere just given to her as she is in such desperate need. Hours later she returns to her desk and the First Assistant, Emily, is shocked into silence, as is Gilsele Bunchen’s character, at her appearance. She looks chic, timeless, fantastically fashionable, and best of all, confident. She is wearing the thigh high Chanel boots. From the moment I saw them on the screen, I lusted over them. The way they perfectly fit and made her outfit edgy, but classy all at the same time. I’m sure you all felt the same. The transformation was breath taking and made us all wish we were her. Well, most of us can’t have the boots, but we can watch the movie and lust after all the beautiful ensembles featured in the show. So, break out the pink champagne, invite a few girlfriends over and agree to freeze frame the parts of the movie that feature your fashion favorites, and then watch it all over again.

Front Row Fashion

NYFW has just ended and the new fashions will be available to the general public soon enough. The fashion forward crowd and exclusive front row guests at the shows must dress to impress. The front row attendees are closely watched and the seats in this prime position are highly coveted. There are a few essentials you need to look the part of front row fabulous.

Oversized glamourous sunglasses are a must. A dark lense is preferable, but a standout frame with gradient lenses will do. Some of my favorites are by Prada and Chanel. Unless you are Anna Wintour, please do not keep them on for the show, but only upon entry for a look-at-me moment as well as to shield your eyes from the camera flashes that are there to catch the celebrity seated beside you.

A small bag that can easily rest on your lap or tuck under your chair is best. You will need to bring the essentials with you, but do not want to be the one who adds to the trip factor by schlepping a big bag to the show and resting it by your feet.

Statement jewelry, whether delicate or not, and a banging shoe are necessary to standout amongst the fashion elite. If you keep your outfit simple and classy, but punch it up with the accessories and shoes, you will never end up on the worst dressed list. It does not matter is you wear a dress or pants, but dress to impress.

I have included a few of my favorite front row looks from this past week.

Make Me Blush

Blush is the perfect color. It is light and romantic, yet classic and modern. The perfect shade of blush is a delicate, creamy color just dusted with a hint of pink and peach. It compliments any skin tone and can be worn for any occasion.

BCBG recently previewed some beautiful blush pieces for NYFW (New York Fashion Week). I especially gravitated toward a piece with a plunging neckline. One of my favorite go to dresses is by BCBGeneration and features a deep v lace back. I recently wore it to my best friend’s wedding rehearsal and received tons of compliments.

I love blush tones with jeans, black, or white. Jeans for day, black for night and a more edgy look, and white for everything. Monochromatic blush on blush is also lovely. However you decide to perfectly pair your blush items, make this tone your new go to color.

Blush beauty is in and is here to stay.
