SBE has done it again. The company has turned the old XIV by Michael Mina into the new location for the revamped Hyde. Hyde was the first nightclub I went to when I moved to LA. It was much smaller and very celebrity studded. I was invited by a friend, had a table with bottle service and mingled will the A-List crowd. At the end of the night, the valet brought my car around and as he opened the door, a drunk driver hit my door and ripped it off! Welcome to LA.
Well it has been 7 years since that incident and I was invited to dinner at Hyde on Sunset. The new spot reminds me of half cozy cabin in Aspen mixed with lounge/nightclub. During dinner, the lounge side of the space is partitioned off with black screens. The vibe was totally laid back and the food was yummy. We got the fried chicken sliders, the heirloom tomato salad, fingerling potato chips, and the local black cod. I liked the black cod dish the best.
It is definitely a hot spot and as we were leaving dinner, the hip crowd was rolling in for drinks. We ran into several people we knew on our way out. Dress to impress since this is the new place to be seen.
Hyde is located at 8117 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90046. 323-525-2444
