Breyers Gelato Indulgences

I am an avid ice cream lover and am always on the hunt for great store bought varieties. Most of them are just ok, but never as good or smooth as ice cream from an ice cream shoppe.

I recently tried Breyers new Gelato Indugences and was pleasantly surprised. I tried the Chocolate Caramel and the Raspberry Cheesecake flavors. They both were outstanding and so incredibly creamy and smooth. The Chocolate Caramel flavor is a rich chocolate with large, soft ribbons of decadent caramel. The Raspberry Cheesecake flavor is a cheesecake flavored base with thick swirls of raspberry flavored topping and a graham crust crumble on top! I am very happy with this new grocery store find and can see this as a weekly favorite for my girls nights and date nights. It is so good, I just may treat myself to a bite or two every night.

I found Breyers Gelato at Target for $5.99, but I am sure they have it at many stores.

Get Your Fixx

I recently went to Scottsdale, Arizona to visit some dear friends of mine. As I was in AJ’s specialty store picking up some flowers for a friend that has been ill, they were sampling Fixx Chocolate Bars. I admit, I was skeptical and just thought, okay, I will have a little bite of sugar while they wrap my flowers.

I was so very pleasantly surprised when I tossed the first bite of the Chelle’s bar in my mouth. It is a handmade chocolate bar that is comprised of creamy cashew nougat, caramel, and roasted cashews. Um….move over Snicker’s bar… Sheriff Chelle is in town. This dream of a chocolate bar was so beautifully presented in two smaller bars in a white box. They are fancy little chocolate bars that are full of the most expertly mixed flavors and textures that delight the tiny little taste buds and make your eyes light up with joy. The Fixx bars are the best chocolate bars I have tasted in a long time. And anyone that knows me, knows that I will never pick chocolate as my favored treat, but in this case, I have been won over and in fact, I now crave it. I will start lobbying to all the local markets to start stocking my new favorite candy bar so I can get my weekly Fixx. Yes, fellow skinny girl Angelenos, I will openly admit that I am going to eat sweets every week!

If you are lucky enough to live in Scottsdale, venture out to AJ’s and grab as many bars as you can because when I went back for more, they were sold out! Make sure you are going straight home though, because although the pretty box it comes in will protect it from getting crushed, that Arizona heat is sure to melt it in mere seconds. I mean I almost melted in that heat too!

You can also order Fixx Chocolate bars on their website at http://www.fixxchocolates.com

Ghirardelli Ice Cream Sundae

When I go to San Francisco I must always get a Ghirardelli ice cream sundae if I can. I twist my friend’s arms, well I don’t have to twist that hard, to take me when I come to visit them in the city.

I wait in line, which goes pretty quickly, and promptly order my sundae with both hot fudge and caramel. I get several scoops of vanilla ice cream, topped with the two sauces, freshly whipped cream, and a cherry and chocolate square on top. The presentation alone is worth the wait, but the taste is out of this world.

The cold ice cream, slightly melting, swirled with the hot fudge, caramel and whipped cream is what I envision the clouds in heaven taste like. Sweet and so utterly delightful. Haha…no pun intended.

If you haven’t tried one of their sundaes, I promise you will absolutely adore them when you do. It is such a fun spot for a date, a family outting, or a day all to yourself, spurging on all the calories that wonderfully make up this blissful treat.

Ghirardelli has many locations, but the original one is San Francisco is my favorite.

Milk Jar Cookies- Cookie Heaven

My friend Light knows I love cookies. I love to bake them and eat them. He has even been lucky enough to be on my holiday cookie delivery list. Yes, I have a list and I actually drive them to each of my friend’s homes to personally deliver the little morsels of joy to them.

Light had gone to a new cookie shop called Milk Jar Cookies. He ranted and raved about it and told me I must try it. I admit, I am a pretty tough critic when it comes to cookies, so I didn’t rush to get there. Well, a client of mine, Lindsey who works for E!, asked if we could have our meeting at Milk Jar Cookies. It is located near their offices on Wilshire and I decided it was the perfect excuse to try the cookies.

Milk Jar Cookies is a small shop that is so cute and exactly what I would want a cookie shop to be. It is simple and sweet, with pretty little details that make all the difference. The color palette is pastels and natural wood, with chandeliers made out of old fashioned milk jars. This store is cute as a button and the cookies are amazing. I usually never like the cookies I try better than my own, so this really impressed me.

The flavors are creative and the cookies are dense. They sell local roasted coffee and milk from a local dairy and serve the beverages in mason jars with colorful stripped paper straws. Ice cream from a local creamery is used for their ice cream sandwiches and can be ordered on the side. It is the perfect place to catch up with a girlfriend or bring your children for a special treat. They even deliver their cookies for gifts. I was so impressed I sent a dozen to a dear friend the next day. They have gift boxes starting at amounts of half a dozen up to four dozen. There is also a “Cookie of the Month” delivery option. Delivery is available to most destinations in the United States.

My favorite flavor was the Chocolate Pecan Caramel. I have included a link to their website below where you can find the full list of flavors and ordering info. I recommend you drop by the shop if you find yourself in LA and enjoy these circle shaped sweet treats.
