Feeling Knotty

I recently purchased a little black dress by NBD from an online clothing boutique called Revolve. It is the “Tie Me Down” dress. The dress is perfect because it is sexy and cute at the same time and has little tie details.

I had dinner plans to go to a hip sushi restaurant here in LA called Katsuya, so I decided to debut my new LBD. I had also been coveting the topknot hairstyle all the celebs have been wearing, so I decided to take a stab at doing it myself. For all of you that know me, you know I have fabulous hairstylist friends that work on celebrity’s manes, so I normally defer to them to style my hair in any trendy styles, but this time, I did it myself. I will do a post on tricks of the trade later with their expertise.

Back to the dress…

The fabric is the perfect weight, not too thick, not to thin, and there is a lining, so no need to worry about any visible panty lines or VPL. The tie details are so sweet and the cutouts provide just enough skin exposure to flaunt your stuff, but not in a vulgar way. The tie detail at the back and lower scoop back are perfect for when you need to hit the ladies room and your man watches you walk away. There is also a slit at the front left of the dress, but the mid calf length keeps it from being over exposed. I felt flirty and fun in this dress and the best part is it was on sale!

You can purchase it at for $63! It is by NBD 🙂

Twinkling Trinkets

I am such a girly girl and love all sparkly things. My latest obsession is dainty diamond jewelry and particularly in rose gold.

EF Collection makes beautiful pieces that will fabulously decorate your body, giving you the perfect pop of sparkle to compliment any outfit. I first found out about this brand from my friend, Michelle, because she was wearing a set of the diamond bar stud earrings and I commented on them. I love how the tones of gold are not harsh, but rather a lighter color that flatter every skin tone. I am currently gravitating more toward the gold or rose gold, but would wear any of them as I do not follow the rules of not mixing metals. Everything goes in my book.

The small bar earrings set with white or black diamonds or rubies are my favorite along with the small chevron style necklace. These styles are perfect for everyday as well as layering with other items you already own to create a bohemian look that glitters in the summer sun. The customizable name plate bracelets and necklaces are amazing as well because they have little diamond accents and can be for a boyfriend, husband, or your baby! I think initials or a secret code of letters would also be a great idea instead of completely spelling out a name, but either way it is so sweet.

Not Your Daddy’s Camouflage

Growing up in Nebraska, I was surrounded by men that liked to hunt. My dad was no exception. He was in the Air Force and on weekends, liked to hunt with his buddies. Whenever he left the house, he was fully outfitted in camouflage gear to blend in with nature’s surroundings.

Naturally, I was the most girly girl around, the total opposite of wanting to hunt or be decked out in camo. My how the times have changed and while I am still as girly as can be, I am loving anything in a camouflage print. I recently got a pair of jogger style sweatpants from Splendid called the Woodbury Camo Pant. It is the perfect combination of muted colors including a sage green and light grey mix. The fabric is cotton and is so incredibly soft and comfortable, I think I may live in these for a while. The best part is they can be dressed up or down. I know it is hard for many of you to consider sweatpants as an outfit to wear outside of the house unless you are ill, but seriously, don’t knock it until you try it.

I love to lounge on my couch in cute sweats, have a girls’ night in, or cozy date night, but another great way to wear them is with a basic white or grey t-shirt and a cute heel. I prefer a stacked heel over a stiletto, but play with it and wear what works for you. Make sure to pull the cuff on the pant up a little on your calf to create a dressier look. Toss on a leather or denim jacket and your look is “out on the town” ready.

The Woodbury Camo Pants retail for $128 at and I paired them with the  U-Neck Scoop T-shirt ($48) and Jayla heels in Nude ($158) also both from Splendid.

Happy Shopping and comment below on how you style your favorite camouflage looks.

All For The Nookie

I recently went shopping for a dress for a trip to Vegas and stumbled upon the brand, Nookie. It is an Australian brand that features fitted dresses, skirts, tops, and swimwear in their collection.

I was invited to see JLO’s new show at Planet Hollywood and was able to see it before most people due to the fact that I went to the “Friends and Family” preview. I will post about the show later, but for now am focusing on my new dress.

I was in search of a dress that was both sexy and classy and made me feel comfortable. The Tropicana long sleeved style by Nookie fit the bill perfectly. The material is stretchy, but maintains its form fitting shape and the design is great as it is long sleeved, the length of the dress hits just below the knee (I am 5’4″) and the criss cross open detailing adds that sexy flair that I had been craving. I tried it on for a few friends and they agreed that this was “the” dress. Most girls tend to migrate toward slutty dresses for a night out in Las Vegas, but I try to keep it classy, but with a little flash.

I purchased mine in LA at a boutique called Divine Boutique in the Beverly Center and it retailed for $220.

Bonkers Over Burgundy For Fall

Fall colors are abundant in all of the stores. I was recently shopping for some items on people’s Christmas Lists and noticed the beautiful shades of burgundy in all of the departments of the major stores. The rich, full color reminds me of a great glass of wine.

I came across an amazing handbag by Rebecca Minkoff at Nordstrom. The style is the “Regan Satchel” and official color is “Port.” The size of this bag is great as it is not too big and not too small. As the three little bears would say….it is just right! The zippers, long leather decorative strips, and braided handles give this bag a bit of an edge, along the lines of a Balenciaga bag, without that hefty price tag. The hardware and enlarged zipper pulls accentuate the bag even more. I love the practicality of it in that it features a long shoulder strap as well as the shorter handles for the ease of carrying, depending on the weight of the contents of your bag, or just the look you are going for. There is an outside zip pocket, interior zip pocket, and two pouches on the inside of the bag for a cell phone or card case. It can also double as a small work bag because you can easily fit an iPad or small laptop and planner. Yes, I said planner, *gasp*, I still do like to write things on paper and cross them out, but don’t worry, I use my iCalendar too.

I purchased this lovely handbag at Nordstrom and it retails for $325 and is 13″w x 9″h x6″d has a 4″ strap drop; 20″-23″ crossbody strap drop.

A Triangl Treat

My friend Angelia came to visit me in LA over the 4th of July. We spent lots of time in the lovely Los Angeles sunshine and in our swimsuits. She had the cutest suit on by the Australian brand, Triangl.

Their suits are made of neoprene, which is what wet suits are made of. It is a thick, water friendly material. The swimwear comes in bright, poppy colors and fun color block designs. The bottoms are low cut and stay put. The plus side of the thicker material is a fuller coverage and non-see thru assurance. I love the color combinations offered and that you can order different sizes for the tops and bottoms. I wear a size 25/26 jean and wear a size small. I was such a fan of Angelia’s suit that I purchased one of my own, with her permission of course. The style of bikini I bought was the Bambi and in the Sugar Plum color. I am such a fan of this line, I want to buy many more and it is very affordable at $79-$89 per set. The Bambi is $79. They ship straight from Australia and I got it in the mail within a few days!

Fabulous Faux Leather Handbag

Living in LA, vegan and faux leather options are all the rage. I have never found a handbag I have liked that wasn’t real leather. The reason is the faux options tend to look cheap and do not wear well, with the styles sometimes being dated and more trendy than classic. Well, listen up all you hippie dippy, kind hearted souls….there is a fabulous array of handbags that won’t break the bank and will keep your conscience clean.

I have fallen head over heels for the Large Structured Handbag from the Daily Look. This bag resembles the Celine bag that everyone owns, but is only a fraction of the price and is a fashionable non-leather option for those who simply will not wear leather. I still love the Celine bags out there and of course, would love to own one, but this is a wonderful way to get the look without wearing leather and compromising on durability, feel, and style.

I purchased the beauty in black and love the versatility of it. You can add the long strap to wear it on your shoulder and also expand the sides to accommodate an iPad or some magazines and snacks for the plane. I was so pleasantly surprised when I received this handbag in the mail and took it for a spin around my neighborhood. I already have received so many compliments and cant wait to take it out more.

You can buy this bag at for $74.99 in black, navy, or raspberry.

Rene Caovilla

I have become a full on stalker of Rene Caovilla shoes. I was at Saks Fifth Avenue in Beverly Hills the other day and I was consumed by the most beautiful shoes.

You all know how much I love anything that sparkles, so naturally these shoes are for me.

I am attending a dear friend’s wedding at the end of June and am deciding between a glitzy dress with plain shoes or a classic dress with stunning shoes. These gorgeous black satin shoes that are fully encrusted with the most sparkly stones have made it to the top of my wish list. The only problem is they are $1695! Thus, why I have become their stalker. The minute these beauties go on sale, they will be on my feet and I will never take them off. A Cinderella moment of sorts, but no prince or step sisters.

I have noticed many brands doing embellished shoes, but Rene Caovilla exudes elegance. Some of the other brands, though still pricey, radiate more of a bedazzled at home with a glue gun look. While I do appreciate a good craft project, I will leave it up to the pros when it comes for fancy footwear.

These shoes should be the standout part of the outfit and not compete with any other accessory. Keep the dress simple and you will for sure be on the best dressed list.

Vintage Levi’s and Vogue

Tonight I attended the Levi’s x Vogue event at the Levi’s Showroom in LA. Levi’s was showcasing their special limited edition Vintage 501CT jeans.

Upon arrival, there were stylists at the ready to help fit you with the perfect broken in pair of denim. These are cool kid jeans for sure and definitely got me out of my comfort zone. The pair the stylist helped me choose are worn in and a looser, boyfriend style. I don’t own any loose jeans, but my friends always look so cute in them and let me tell you, they are beyond comfortable. I envision wearing them with a white t-shirt, a fun high heel, and maybe a leather jacket or cozy sweater. They would also look amazing paired with converse for a more casual look.

A cool flower company, Bloom That, based in San Francisco presented everyone with burlap covered colorful arrangements tied with a fun bow to take home. The blooms were such a sweet touch at the end of the night. Pretty little things and edgy fashion items are always a good mix.

Blushworthy Bedding

I have been daydreaming about the blush colored bedding at Restoration Hardware’s Baby & Child. Yes, it is kid stuff, but I love it still.

The display rooms at the store were so beautiful and whimsical, I wanted to permanently set up camp in one of the awesome monogrammed tents and stay forever. The fluffy beds were layered perfectly with plush pillows, faux furs, and pintucked duvet covers, all welcoming you to snuggle up and read a bedtime story. I actually think the delicately colored bedding would work well in any room, no matter your age, as the decor was a far cry from Carebears and Unicorns. It radiates luxury and comfort in a way that is also inviting, rather than pretentious. The boys’ decor was just as amazing, but since I am a girly girl, I gravitated toward the frills.

I urge you to take a peek online or go to the store in Santa Monica to revel in all the pretty little things the store has to offer and to be inspired by their designers hard work.
