Vintage Levi’s and Vogue

Tonight I attended the Levi’s x Vogue event at the Levi’s Showroom in LA. Levi’s was showcasing their special limited edition Vintage 501CT jeans.

Upon arrival, there were stylists at the ready to help fit you with the perfect broken in pair of denim. These are cool kid jeans for sure and definitely got me out of my comfort zone. The pair the stylist helped me choose are worn in and a looser, boyfriend style. I don’t own any loose jeans, but my friends always look so cute in them and let me tell you, they are beyond comfortable. I envision wearing them with a white t-shirt, a fun high heel, and maybe a leather jacket or cozy sweater. They would also look amazing paired with converse for a more casual look.

A cool flower company, Bloom That, based in San Francisco presented everyone with burlap covered colorful arrangements tied with a fun bow to take home. The blooms were such a sweet touch at the end of the night. Pretty little things and edgy fashion items are always a good mix.

Blushworthy Bedding

I have been daydreaming about the blush colored bedding at Restoration Hardware’s Baby & Child. Yes, it is kid stuff, but I love it still.

The display rooms at the store were so beautiful and whimsical, I wanted to permanently set up camp in one of the awesome monogrammed tents and stay forever. The fluffy beds were layered perfectly with plush pillows, faux furs, and pintucked duvet covers, all welcoming you to snuggle up and read a bedtime story. I actually think the delicately colored bedding would work well in any room, no matter your age, as the decor was a far cry from Carebears and Unicorns. It radiates luxury and comfort in a way that is also inviting, rather than pretentious. The boys’ decor was just as amazing, but since I am a girly girl, I gravitated toward the frills.

I urge you to take a peek online or go to the store in Santa Monica to revel in all the pretty little things the store has to offer and to be inspired by their designers hard work.

Watermelon Wishes and Caviar Dreams

I came across this photo of Watermelon Pizza and am completely inspired. I love the vibrant color of the fruit and that it is healthy.

This idea is perfect for a party and especially for a children’s party so they can have a fun treat. I have made fruit pizza with a cookie crust, but this new twist is a must try for me. I love how they cut the watermelon into thin circle slices, sliced bananas, and tossed on other fruits such as grapes, blueberries, and blackberries. You could jazz it up for adults by adding really nice balsamic vinegar drizzled on the top. Slice into triangular shapes to create the pizza pie and you are all set. I can’t wait to bring this to a pool party this summer and delight everyone with this mouth watering fresh treat.

Nuts Over Notebooks

When I was home for the holidays my mom bought me some lovely notebooks. I always like having a pen and paper handy for when inspiration strikes or I need to take notes. These notebooks by Eccolo are perfect.

I enjoy giving gifts to people and recently have been on a kick of picking out notebooks for my friends. The variety that Eccolo offers are great because each one has a different quote or saying on the front and the colors are beautiful. I keep one at home or in my purse and one at work to jot down my to do list. I am a little old school in that I still love the act of crossing off an item on my to do list. It gives me a sense of accomplishment and moving forward. I also like writing in a book because you can keep them and refer to them at a later date if need be. It beats scattering post it notes all over your desk or mirrors at home (I’m guilty of doing this) and helps keep you organized and looking chic while doing it. You can also use them as a journal or diary.

I found a bunch of pink notebooks today and of course scooped them up for future gifts, and maybe one for me to keep. Living in LA I have also found it important to mention that these notebooks are Vegan as well. No matter what style you choose, you will find yourself using it everyday.

Darling Donuts

I was driving downtown this morning and was stuck in a bit of traffic. I started to get annoyed until I realized I would be passing by California Donuts. My frown flipped upside down to this silver lining to LA traffic.

California Donuts is this small donut shop in a strip mall on 3rd street in Los Angeles. They specialize in fresh donuts that have fun toppings. The bakery offers maple glazed bacon, frosted fruit loop, lucky charms, and the cutest little Panda face donuts to name a few. The confections are so fun, fluffy, and delicious and are sure to brighten anyone’s day. The parking is tricky, but it is worth it to circle around.

The shop is located at 3540 W 3rd Street, Los Angeles, CA and is open 24 hours so you can get your sugar fix.

Best Dressed at The Grammy Awards

I adore watching the stars walk the red carpet for all the awards shows and especially love the Grammy’s because the dress code seems to be more fun. My picks for best dressed are listed below.

Gwen Stefani killed it in a black Versace jumpsuit with and fun sheer wave design in the bodice. Giuliana Rancic had an amazing long sleeve black dress by Steve Khalil that had peek a boo sleeves and a deep v front. Ariana Grande rocked Versace’s sexy, low back and silver mesh detailed gown. Taylor Swift funked it up with a high-low hemline gradient aqua blue dress by Elie Saab. These looks stood out to me and were really memorable. I love how fun they all were and well suited to each celebrity’s personality.

Award season is my favorite season here in Los Angeles because the town in buzzing with energy and I get to see the parties popping up all around my neighborhood. I love the shows themselves and hearing all the acceptance speeches, but the fashion is truly my favorite part.

Strawberry “Nicecream”

I was in the mood for ice cream when I got home today, but wanted to try to win the battle with being healthy, so I resisted the urge to drive to Baskin Robbins. Instead I turned some leftover strawberries into “Nicecream.”

I broke out my trusty little food processor and tossed in a cup of frozen strawberries, 1/4 cup of light coconut milk (I got mine from Trader Joe’s and it comes in a can), a drop of vanilla bean paste, one small squeeze of light amber agave syrup. I then blended all the ingredients until they became a smooth ice cream-like consistency. Scoop out of food processor into a bowl and enjoy! The result is a creamy, fresh flavored strawberry dessert that is guilt free and a close second to ice cream. I’m not going to lie and say it is better than Baskin Robbins Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, but it is refreshing and delicious. You will be pleasantly surprised.
