I love a good gallery wall and recently installed one on a wall in my apartment. I got my inspiration from Pinterest and promptly began searching for the perfect pieces that represented the things I like.
I was introduced to the photographer Alex B. Stoddard and found a particular picture that I was really drawn to. This picture was of a girl in a white dress by the ocean with her dress open in the back to show her spine. A dear friend of mine has had a tramatic spine injury, and this picture reminded me of the beauty in the spine and how delicate it is. I also found a Kate Moss Supreme print that I absolutely adore and built the wall from there.
You will need to lay the pieces you want to hang on the wall on the floor first to map out the layout. It is the easiest way to do it. You could also take it a step further and use brown paper to trace the size and shape of the items and tape them to the wall to see how it will look once installed.
If you are handy, you can hang them yourself. I opted for to bring in a professional and actually hired a specialist from West Elm who even helped me come up with the arrangement.
It is important to add personal touches of photos or items that mean something to you. I added photos of my family and friends and quotes that I adore. It is still a work in progress as I have a few more things to add, but I am loving it.
