I recently planned part of my best friend from high school, Elisa’s, Bacherlorette Party in Chicago. I was in charge of Friday night and thought it was the perfect excuse to make reservations at a restaurant I have been dying to try, RPM Italian.
RPM Italian is an Italian restaurant in Chicago housed directly across the historic fire station in River North. The restaurant is owned by Bill and Giuliana Rancic, Lettuce Entertain You siblings JR, Jerrod and Molly Melman, and chef Doug Psaltis. Thus the namesake RPM Italian.
The restaurant was bustling for our 8:30pm reservation with a great bar scene and perfect summer weather for our short fifteen minute wait for our table. The rich dark brown wooden floors and candle lit tables were just the chic touch we needed to set the tone for the Bachelorette Weekend. Our waiter promptly took our drink orders and brought water to our table, while suggesting some of his favorite dishes on the menu.
We ordered the Truffled Garlic Bread, Watermelon and Tomato Salad, Prime Beef Meatballs, Cremini Mushroom Pizzette, Shreaded Brussel Sprout Salad, Sweet Corn Agnolotti, Mama DePandi’s Bucatini, Spicy King Crab, Sugar Snap Pea Rissotto, Carbonara, Ravioli a la RPM, and Affogato for dessert. The server surprised us with little gelato ice cream cones as a gift to the bachelorette!
It was five star service without the fuss, which was flawless and the food was so satisfying and crave worthy. My favorite dish was Mama DePandi’s Bucatini and the affogato for dessert. The homemade Bucatini was done to perfection and had the slightest kick to it in regard to spice, that gave it the perfect balance. The affogato was composed of La Colombe cold pressed coffee and generous scoops of vanilla bean gelato. I am not usually a coffee drinker, but this cold pressed coffee was so smooth and paired so well with the richness of the gelato.
I have been telling everyone in LA to book a flight to Chicago immediately to dine at RPM Italian. I have included the menu and photos below. Craving carbs until next time!
